Who We Are

Tuungane Pwani is a non-profit organisation established to promote sustainable community development by reducing poverty, improving health services, expanding access to education, empowering communities, and protecting the environment.

We work closely with local communities, government institutions, NGOs, development partners, and international organisations to create long-term, sustainable solutions across Kenya's Coast Region.

Silas Mzunngu Chitibwi

Silas Mzunngu Chitibwi

Chairman

Experienced community leader with a passion for sustainable development and social transformation across the Coast Region.

Silas Mzunngu Chitibwi is the Chairman of Tuungane Pwani. He brings decades of experience in community mobilisation, governance, and strategic planning. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding the organisation's vision and ensuring that community voices are at the heart of every programme.

He has worked closely with local and international partners to design and implement initiatives that address poverty, health, education, and environmental challenges. He is committed to transparency, accountability, and the empowerment of marginalised groups.

Raymond Ngatata

Raymond Ngatata

Technical / Medical Director

Medical professional and public health expert, overseeing clinical operations and health programme design.

Raymond Ngatata serves as the Technical and Medical Director of Tuungane Pwani. With a background in medicine and public health, he leads the design and implementation of all health‑related programmes, including Tumaini Medical Centre.

His expertise covers primary healthcare, disease prevention, health systems strengthening, and community health outreach. He is dedicated to ensuring that quality healthcare reaches the most vulnerable communities in the Coast Region.

Our Objectives

Seven pillars driving community development

Each objective area is delivered in partnership with the communities themselves, from poverty reduction to environmental conservation and child protection.

Poverty Reduction - Community enterprise and income generation

Poverty Reduction

Enterprise development, income-generating projects, bursaries and scholarships, adult education, agricultural production, value addition, marine resource development, marketing opportunities and renewable energy.

Community Health - Healthcare services and outreach

Community Health

Maternal and child health, primary health care, HIV/AIDS awareness and management, reproductive health, water projects, construction of hospitals and dispensaries, medical equipment supply and health institution management.

Education - School infrastructure and learning

Education

Building classrooms, construction of laboratories, educational workshops, adult education, school infrastructure improvement, community libraries, teacher support and educational grants and scholarships.

Infrastructure Development - Roads, water and electricity

Infrastructure Development

Roads, water pipelines, boreholes, electricity, telecommunications and machinery support to connect and strengthen communities.

Environment - Tree planting and conservation

Environment

Clean environment campaigns, renewable energy, solar and wind energy, waste recycling, agroforestry, tree planting and forest conservation.

Capacity Building - NGO and community group support

Capacity Building

Support for NGOs, Community Based Organisations, Faith Based Organisations, Self Help Groups and Welfare Groups to strengthen local leadership.

Women, Youth and Children - Empowerment and protection

Women, Youth & Children

Women's empowerment, girl child education, child protection, ending gender-based violence, ending female genital mutilation, preventing early marriages and promoting equal opportunities.

Tumaini Medical Centre — Tezo, Kilifi County

A Level III medical centre developed by Tuungane Pwani to bring quality, affordable healthcare closer to Coast Region communities — now open for strategic partnership and investment.

Established

Officially opened 16 January 2011

by Mr. Jürgen Albrecht, Founder — Hilfe-Kenya e.V. Germany

Legacy

Served the community continuously until the COVID-19 pandemic, when operations were severely affected, leading to a temporary closure.

Today

Now open for investment — ready for a new chapter of sustainable healthcare delivery.
